Knee Pain treatment in Oxford

The causes of knee pain can be divided into two main areas: knee pain caused by local structures in the knee itself and knee pain due to problems with surrounding joints.

Local knee pain

Local knee pain can be due to problems with the cartilages (or meniscus) in the knee, or with the ligaments, muscles and tendons around the knee joint. Osteopathic treatment of these structures may well help relieve knee pain.

Knee pain due to inbalances in the surrounding joints

The knee is a mobile joint between the hip and the foot. If either of these other joints are misaligned or restricted, then the extra strain through the knee can lead to knee pain. Our Osteopaths are trained to carefully examine the joints of the lower limb and can treat and give advice on stretches and exercises in order to reduce the strain on the knee.
